What is Radiology
Radiology and imaging play a vital role in modern medicine. These comprise diagnostic and interventional procedures. Diagnostic techniques not only help in accurate diagnosis of the disease, but also guide the clinicians with regards to optimal management of the patient and to monitor response to treatment. Whereas, interventional procedures like biopsy, drainage, vascular and biliary stenting play a major role in patient management. Routine Radiography (x-ray), ultrasonography, mammography, CT scan and MR imaging are the various imaging modalities that house the department of Radiology. Over the past decade, advances in imaging techniques have brought about a considerable change in the health care delivery across the globe, enabling improved and early detection of diseases.
